Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 95

Today I present to you a beautiful song from an obscure movie – “Kora Aanchal” (1973). However, imagine my surprise when I found a song from this film posted on the blog. Equally surprising was the reason why that particular song was posted by Atul Ji a little over two years ago. And the reason was that the song was about a donkey and it was posted on a World Donkey Day!! Funny, isn’t it?

My song today is “Rona Mera Naseeb Hai” sung by Asha Bhosle, written by Somesh Joshi and composed by Roshanlal Khatri.

“Koraa Aanchal”(1973) was directed by Somesh Joshi & V. Mhatre for ‘Mexico Films, Bombay’. The movie had had Dheeraj, Narendra Nath, Snehlata, Laxmi Chhaya, Joginder, Junior Mehmood, and others in it. Actress Veena made guest appearance in this movie.

The film is a B grade romantic drama set around a wealthy but morally corrupt household and the fate of an innocent young woman.

I had seen the film a couple of times when it was released.

Story:

A beautiful and simple village girl named Gauri (Snehlata) lives with her poor family and is known for her innocence and virtue. Her life changes when Ravi (Dheeraj Kumar), a kind-hearted young man from a wealthy background, meets her during a visit to the countryside. Ravi is drawn to Gauri’s purity and sincerity, and the two gradually fall in love. Their relationship blossoms despite the difference in their social status.

However, Ravi’s family strongly opposes the match. The biggest obstacle is the scheming and immoral Ranjit (Narendra Nath), a relative and powerful figure in the household. Ranjit is attracted to Gauri and becomes obsessed with possessing her. When he realizes that she loves Ravi, his desire turns into jealousy and cruelty.

Using his influence, Ranjit spreads false rumors about Gauri’s character and manipulates situations to make it appear that she is unfaithful and unworthy of Ravi. Ravi’s family begins to doubt her virtue, and the lovers are separated. Gauri’s reputation is ruined, and she is forced to leave the household in disgrace.

Gauri’s struggles after losing both love and the social respect. She endures hardship but refuses to compromise her dignity. Meanwhile, Ravi eventually discovers the truth about Ranjit’s conspiracy and realizes that Gauri had been innocent all along.

In the climax, Ravi confronts Ranjit and exposes his deceit. Ranjit’s crimes and immoral behavior come to light, leading to his downfall. With the truth revealed, Gauri’s honor is restored. Ravi reunites with her, acknowledging her purity and courage.

The song is very beautiful and poignant and is probably picturised on the heroine when her image gets tarnished due to a false narrative.

This is the second of the six songs to be posted on the blog.

I couldn’t find a video clip of the song.
