“Sati Madalsa”(1955) was produced and directed by Jayant Desai for Hemlata Pictures, Bombay. This mythological movie had Nirupa Roy, Manhar Desai, Jeewan, Niranjan Sharma, Kumkum, Heera Sawant, Mohini, Jharna, Paras, Gadadhar Sharma, Bhoopendra Kapoor, Avtar Kishan, T N Sinha Ramesh Desai, Arvind, Anand Joshi, Dubey, Rajesh , shri Bhagwan, Radheshyam, Gajendra, Devchand etc in it with Kamla Mukherji as a guest artist.
“Sati Madalsa”(1955) had nine songs in it. Asha Bhonsle’s voice figured in majority of songs of the movie, mostly as a solo artist. In one song, she sang a duet with Rafi, the only other playback singer in the movie.
Rafi sang just two songs in the movie. His other song was a solo song.
Here is that Rafi solo song from the movie. Gopal Singh Nepali is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.
Only audio of the song is available. I guess that this song is picturised as a mendicant/ beggar song singing this philosoplical song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
I herad this song for the first time just now. The song sounds fresh as dew and it has a calming effect on one’s nerves. It is a song that deserves to be better known among music lovers. What nice lyrics -“tu diya toofaan ka naam le Bhagwaan ka.”
