Today’s song is from the movie ‘Rangeen Kahaani-1947’. It was directed by Anjum Hussaini for ‘New Roshan Art Productions, Bombay’ and it was a movie from ‘social genre’. The cast of this movie had Surekha, S. Irshad, Dulari, Agha Mirza, Sayyad Ahmed, Bibi Jaan, Khursheed Parvez, P.D. Lal, Maqbool, M.K. Hasan, Ghulam Mohiddin, Sarita, Faiyyaz Begam, Mehrunnisa, Azim Hyderabadi, Mahshar Shirazi and others.
As mentioned in earlier posts this movie ‘Rangeen Kahaani-1947’ has nine songs written by Waheed Qureshi and composed by Feroz Nizami. The singers for this movie included Ameerbai and Feroz Nizami. However for one individual song the singer’s name is not mentioned in Geet Kosh Vol-II (1941-1950). Out of the eight songs Ameerbai Karnataki has sung six solo songs (two songs accompanied by chorus), and the remaining two songs are duet songs sung by Ameerbai Karnataki and Feroz Nizami.
Seven songs out of the nine songs from this movie have already been posted on this blog. The seven songs posted earlier include five solo songs by Ameerbai Karnataki and two duet songs sung by Ameerbai Karnataki and Feroz Nizami.
Today we will be listening to the eighth song from this movie. Ameerbai Karnataki is the singer of this “lady suffereing from the adverse after effects of falling in love” genre of song.
