“Raj Mahal”(1953) was directed by Nanubhai Vakil for Shah Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Shakeela, Trilok Kapoor, Ram Singh, Noorjahan, Murad, Mishra, Bhupendra Kapoor, Gulab, Ansari, Sadiq, Sarla, S Nazeer, Mohini, Uma Devi, Baby Chand, Wazir Muhammad Khan etc in it.
“Raj Mahal”(1953) had seven songs in it. One song has been covered in the blog in the past.
Here is the second song from “Raj Mahal”(1953). It is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Munshi Dil is the lyricist. Music is composed by Pt Govind Ram.
Only audio of the song is available.Seeong that Asha Bhonsle’s voice figured in six out of seven songs of the movie, my guess is that Asha Bhonsle had sung for the leading lady of the movie, viz Shakeela. Nevertheless, I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of this song.
Song-Kuchh jaan na thhee pehchaan na thhee (Raj Mahal)(1953) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyricist-Munshi Dil, MD-Pt Govind Ram
Lyrics
kuchh jaan na thhee
pehchaan na thhee
hum unse mohabbat kar baithhe
kuchh jaan na thhee
pehchaan na thhee
hum unse mohabbat kar baithhe
naadaan jawaanee ka sauda
hum dil kee badauat kar baithhe
ab chain naheen aaraam naheen
har waqt hai unkee yaad humen
ab chain naheen aaraam naheen
har waqt hai unkee yaad humen
aankhon mein tadapte hain aansoo
do din mein ye haalat kar baithhe
kuchh jaan na thhee
pehchaan na thhee
hum unse mohabbat kar baithhe
murjha gayeen honthhon kee kaliyaan
hansne ka zamaana beet gaya
murjha gayeen honthhon kee kaliyaan
hansne ka zamaana beet gaya
aaja tujh par marne waale
ab jeene se nafrat kar baithhe
kuchh jaan na thhee
pehchaan na thhee
hum unse mohabbat kar baithhe
