“Man Ka Meet” (1968) was produced by Sunil Dutt and directed by A Subba Rao for Ajanta Arts Production, Bombay. The movie had Som Dutt, Leena Chandavarkar, Vinod Khanna, Om Prakash, Rajendra Nath, Anwar, Jeevan, Achala Sachdev, Sandhya Rani etc in it.
The movie was used as a launch vehicle for Som Dutt (brother of Sunil Dutt), but he failed to click with the audience. The only silver lining in this eminently forgettable movie was Vinod Khanna, another debutant, who played the villain in the movie. It was Vinod Khanna, who found his career getting launched instead of Som Dutt, a result that Sunil Dutt had not bargained for when signing up Vinod Khanna for the movie.
The movie had eight songs in it. Two songs have been covered in the past.
Here is the third song from “Man Ka Meet” (1968) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ravi.
The song was picturised on Som Dutt, who apparently teies to gate crash into the palatial home of his beloved (Leena Chandawarkar) and he is stopped by the Pathan gateman (whom I am unable to identify, though he looks either like Anup Kumar or Satyen Kappu to me). I request our knowledgeable readers to helpidntify his as well as others who are seen in the picturisation. Manorama is the only one whom I am able to identify. Jeewan and Leena Chandawarkar too can be seen in the picturisation.
This is a lively and fun song to listen to and watch. But the movie flopped and so this song(and other songs) failed to register with the music lovers of those days, who during those days were exposed to outstanding songs and they were spoilt for choice, which meant that this song stood no chance whatsoever to become popular with music lovers and movie goers.
