I was aware of “Aarzoo” (1965) which was a musical blockbuster. Then I became aware of another movie of this name that came in 1950 and I found the songs of this movie “boring”. In fact, that is what happened with me for songs of movies with similar names.Being a youngster growing in 1970s, I liked music of “Andaaz”(1971),”Adalat” (1976) , “Parvarish”(1977) and disliked music of older movies with same name and wondered why older generation created such “boring” music.

There have been several movies called “Aarzoo”. There was one “Aarzoo” in 1966 where Shankar Jaikishan’s hit music had helped the movie become a big box office success. There was another movie of this name that was released in 1951. This movie had songs of different genre and they too had become popular in their times.

If you are an antakshari aspirant and need to come up with songs beginning from “A”, look no futher than “Aarzoo”. It has a song that goes “Ae nargise mastana”. If this song is already used up ( or posted in case of this blog) then here is another “ae phoolon ki raani bahaaron ki malika”.

Many of the big heroes of 1950s and 1960s owe a lot of their success to Rafi. Many movies of those days succeeded mainly because of the songs, and Rafi was the male singer in these songs.
