“Lajwanti”(1942), alias “Radio Singer” was directed y Hiralal R Doctor for Shree Ganesh Pictures, Bombay. This “social” movie had Ratanbai, Anuradha, Wazir Mohammad Khan, Ashiq Hussain, Fakir Mohammad, Ratan Modi etc in it.

I have posted several nice songs from the movie “Lajwanti” (1958). This movie had some very good songs in it sung mainly by Asha Bhonsle. Majrooh Sultanpuri was the lyricist and S D Burman composed the music.

In 1950s, it was difficult to imagine a music director making his mark without using the voice of Lata. But there were two music directors who achieved this seemingly impossible feat. One was O P Nayyar who never used Lata’s voice in even once in his career. Another music director who stopped using Lata’s voice in 1950s was S D Burman.
