This song was almost edited out of the movie by its producer Vijay Bhatt who thought that this song, showing Hindu festival of Janmashtami had no place in this movie, but he was convinced by others that Akbar’s wife Jodhabai was a Hindu and so showing this song made sense.

“pyaar kia to darna kya” is easily one of the most well known lines from Bollywood movie songs. Shakeel Badayuni’s lyrics for this movie in general and this song in particular have passed into folklore.
