Kaliyug hai ati dhoort ghamandi
Posted October 9, 2013
on:I have mentioned it in a previous post that there are two sites that are blatantly copying the contents of this blog for the last several days. I had avoided mentioning these sites by name, hoping that better sense would prevail and I had acted in the manner advised on internet. Under such situations, the advise is to find the hosts of these sites and inform the hosts. I had informed the hosts of these two sites. One host seemed to be responding somewhat but the other host would only respond by sending an automated response everytime I emailed that host.
The host who seemed to be responding (arvixe.com) asked me to send the full list of links that were plagiarised by the site (ibollywoodsongs.com). I spent the entire morning yesterday sifting through the links on that site to come up with a big list of plagiarised content. I discovered that beginning from 15 september 2013 onwards, all posts in the blog were being copied by this site ibollywoodsongs.com. I emailed this long list to abuse@arvixe.com. Nearly a day has passed and I have not heard anything from them.
PS-I have received a response saying that they have contacted the user and have given him some time to resolve the matter prior to taking any restrictive action.
The other pirating site (lyricstrans.com) is hosted on Dreamhost. My emails to abuse@dreamhost.com are being responded with the same automated response every time. In other words, I am banging my head against the wall as far as this host is concerned.
Going by the identical nature of piracy, it is clear that both sites are owned by the same individual, and this site lyricstrans.com had begun its piracy earlier that ibollywoodsongs.com. lyricstrans.com had begun to steal content from atulsongaday.me from 2 september 2013. Each and every post of the blog has since been stolen by lyricstrans.com from then onwards and this theft is going on even after bringing this fact to the notice of their hosts.
I will not be surprised if this article too get copied by these two sites whose owner seems to have good knowledge of computer programming, but he seems eminently incapable of writing an original article on the topic that these two sites deal in. The other contents of these sites too are copied from some other sources. These two sites in fact are automated content stealing sites who have been stealing contents from several sites that post song lyrics.
PS-What did I say ! This article too has been copied on these sites at http://ibollywoodsongs.com/kaliyug-hai-ati-dhoort-ghamandi/ and at http://www.lyricstrans.com/kaliyug-hai-ati-dhoort-ghamandi/
Seeing that these two sites are automated sites and their owner appears quite thick skinned, dealing with these two content stealing sites is going to be a challenge. It is clear that we cannot allow our content to be stolen like this. We will have to think of ways and means to protect our intellectual property that has been accumulated over half a decade and is a result to pooling of resouces by lots of contributors.
Support and goodwill of our visitors is required to deal with this blatant piracy. Reporting these sites to their hosts has so far failed to have any effect, but I am sure we may see some effect if several people email the hosts reporting these sites for online piracy.
It is essential that sites like ibollywoodsongs.com and lyricstrans.com must be reigned in. These sites must be made to pay from their piracy which is an offence and a violation of terms of service (TOS) of every host. It would be a pity if sites like these are allowed to operate, because it would mean that all the hard work put in by blogs and sites like ours would go waste. Worse still, it will discourage similar ventures in future. This piracy has already taken its toll on the blog. I could not bring myself to post the usual quota of article yesterday in the blog. I was forced to spend most of my time yesterday to think of ways to protect our interests. I was not alone, other regulars too have been upset and they too are thinking on the same lines.
If piracy wins and originality loses in this case then I am afraid that we may have to take some drastic steps to protect our interest. One suggestion is to curtail the access of the blog to make it a blog of a closed group, like how it is in case of several facebook groups. It will be a sad day for all of us if we are forced to take such steps. I hope that a day like this may never come and we may continue to remain an open and generous group as has always been the case with this blog. For that we will collectively need to defeat the online pirates who are out to harm the great online collaboration of likeminded music lovers that this blog represents.
I was wondering what song would fit in with a post like this. I was looking for a song on the lines of “Ramchandra keh gaye siya se”, but that song was already discussed long back. Just as I was running out of options, I managed to come across a song which is a new song by the standards of this blog, but it is so rare and obscure that little is known about this song.
From the little details available online, it appears that this song is an NFS which was part of an albul called “Shivsagar” (1999). This particular song from the album is sung by Dilip Sen. Dev Kohli is the lyricist. Music is composed by Sameer Sen.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this album.
Here is this rare song which reflects my current sentiments rather well.

Atul,
The link given below may be of interest to you in the context, if not already read by you.

Atul,
I was informed of your experience with the plagiarists by Songs of Yore. Last week, I was the target of two sites like this, both of which seem to be run by content-scrapers, using bots to trawl the ‘Net for content. From the url of the sites, it appears that both are run by the same person.
I’m pretty sure that your site, as well as mine, is targetted by automated content trawlers. One site removed my content when I posted a comment on my post on their blog, but the other one remains as is. I have made a formal complaint to Blogger.
The problem now, is that you will spend more time trying to figure out how to stop this from recurring. : (
My best wishes. This blog has brought me great reading pleasure, and even if I comment on it very rarely, I’m a frequent visitor. In fact, I have it on my Bookmarks menu. It is my sincere wish that you will continue to post the correct lyrics to songs.

Atul:
The domain lyricstrans.com has its privacy protected by privacyprotect.org, who, thankfully, say (as per a “whois” request) that “…PRIVACYPROTECT.ORG is providing privacy protection services to this domain name to protect the owner from spam and phishing attacks. PrivacyProtect.org is not responsible for any of the activities associated with this domain name. If you wish to report any abuse concerning the usage of this domain name, you may do so at http://privacyprotect.org/contact. We have a stringent abuse policy and any complaint will be actioned within a short period of time.”
If you could visit that page (i.e., http://privacyprotect.org/contact) and fill in the details that they ask for, then, you may (repeat, MAY) get some action.
Your mileage may vary: please use your discretion, and please forgive me for this long comment.

Thanks for this information. Reporting the site to its host had no effect. Let us hope that reporting it to privacyprotect will see better response.

Since these sites are auto copying material, for the next few days, start EVERY article with a mention that –this material belongs to atulsongaday and not to ibollywoodsong/lyricstran, etc —that way all the users visiting this blog as well as those 2 sites will become aware of this fact and hopefully they would stop, and even if they dont, users of those sites would know who is the original source and migrate to this blog.

Thanks for this advise. I had named the sites in this article and still the sites named contained this article as well. The articles are still being carried on lyricstrans.com, whereas the host of ibollywoodsongs.com has made the pirate to delete the contents copied from this blog. There are still several ways and means to tackle the offender that I have not yet explored.
I find that the other affected sites give up rather easily instead of spending time to fight this menace. I have contacted a few of them and I will contact others too and tell them how to jointly fight this content thief.
