Rang dil ki dhadkan bhi laati to hogi

Posted on: January 15, 2012

“Patang” (1960) is a movie which was produced by Asiatic Productions and directed by Hargobind Duggal and Suraj Prakash. The movie had Rajendra Kumar, Om Prakash, Achala Sachdev, Ulhaas, Manorama, Raj Mehra, Keshav Rana, Randhir, Leela Mishra, Chaman puri, Mohan Choti, Baby Farida etc in it.

I have so far discussed two songs from this movie. Here is another song from this movie. after hearing this song (or perhaps even before that), readers may exclaim- Arrey ! How come this song was not yet posted !” . Yes this song is indeed one of those well known songs that should have made it earlier. Better late than never, though.

This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Mala Sinha who plays a visually impaired lady. This politically correct term was not in existence those days, though.

Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Chitragupta.

Lyrics of this song as well as other details were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

Rang dil ki dhadkan bhi laati to hogi
yaad meri unko bhi aati to hogi

rang dil ki dhadkan bhi laati to hogi
yaad meri unko bhi aati to hogi

o o o
pyaar ki khshboo kahaan aati thi kaliyon se
hoke aayee hai hawaa bhi unki galiyon se
pyaar ki khshboo kahaan aati thi kaliyon se
hoke aayee hai hawaa bhi unki galiyon se
chhooke unke daaman ko aati to hogi
rang dil ki dhadkan bhi laati to hogi

o o o
ye bahaarein ye samaa sab uske dam se hain
woh piya kuchh kuchh khaffa rehta jo humse hai
ye bahaarein ye samaa sab uske dam se hain
woh piya kuchh kuchh khaffa rehta jo humse hai
jaan kuchh kuchh uski bhi jaati to hogi
rang dil ki dhadkan bhi laati to hogi

o o o
jaa ree ai titli nagariya pee ki tu jaanaa
ho bhala tera khabar kuchh unki le aanaa
jaa ree ai titli nagariya pee ki tu jaanaa
ho bhala tera khabar kuchh unki le aanaa
tu wahan par vaisi bhi jaati to hogi
rang dil ki dhadkan bhi laati to hogi
rang dil ki dhadkan bhi laati to hogi
yaad meri unko bhi aati to hogi

Atul ji,
PATANG-1960 was a Asiatic Arts Prodn. film, produced by Kewal suri and Hargovind and directed by Hargovind and Suraj Prakash.Dialogues and lyrics were by Rajinder Krishna on a story by K.V.Reddy.
All that glitters is not gold and all that is black is not coal.
In Basantpur the Municipal chairman is Raisahib Deen Dayal(Ulhas),and members are Motiram(Keshav rana),Shastriji(Randhir),Babu Himatrai(Chaman puri) and Ramdas(Raj Mehra).
Except Ramdas, all are double faced crooks.Rajan(Rajendra Kumar) s/o Deen dayal and Shanti d/o Ramdas are friends. In one diwali,by mistake of Rajan, shanti loses her eyes.Rajan studies medicine and becomes eye surgeon.
Meanwhile,Raisahib, kills his driver in a rage.Thinking that it was an accident,Ramdas takes the blame and goes to jail.Raisahib neglects his family and drives them out of the town,as he does nor accept Rajan and Shanti’s friendship.
WhenRajan returns to Basantpur,he learns about shanti’s leaving the town.He locates Shanti, and then Ramdas also returns from jail. The rality of Deendayal is exposed.
Meanwhile Rajan operates and Lo & behold-Shanti’s eyes come back as if from term holidays !
Anattempt to kill Rai sahib ends unfortunately in stabbing Rajan, who is hospitalised. There is a blame game amongst the Municiple crooks and all
are exposed.Police step in (after waiting in the wings) and culprits go behind bars.
Rajan comes out of Hospital hail and hearty and lives a happy, peaceful and long married life with Shanti(with full eyesight) !

The very soft, smooth and delicate side of Lata only Chitragupt can bring it.
This song is equally good as…Dil ka diya jalake gaya; from Akashdeep.
A very fruitful collaboration between both of them.
