This movie “Hum sab Ustaad hain” was the first movie in which Laxmikant Pyarelal, then newcomers, worked with Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar in fact was the actor cum singer in this movie, and the association of the would be great singer and would be great music director duo in this movie resulted in some memorable songs.
One such memorable song from this movie viz “Ajnabi tum jaane pahchaane se lagte ho” has already appeared in this blog, and that was one of the greatest sad songs that Kishore Kumar has sung.
There was another great song in this movie that must be regarded as an iconic song on national integration that stresses upon the idea of unity in diversity that the emerging nation of India stood for.
I have listened to this song many a times. Now when I am discussing this song, I am going through its vvideo clip as well. It is only now that I have realised that that this was a rail song as well. This song is sung by Kishore Kumar in a train and that is what explains the racy beat that one associates with the tunes of Laxmikant Pyarelal as well as with a train.
The lyrics of this song is written by Asad Bhopali. It is unfortunate that Asad Bhopali could never become as saleable a name as some other filmy shayars of that time. The few Asad Bhopali songs that I have come across reinforces my impression of him as an outstanding lyricist who deserved more breaks than what he actually got.
Overall, it is a great and evergreen song sung by Kishore Kumar. It is one of the first great songs that the association of Kishore Kumar and Laxmikant Pyarelal produced. There would be many more in the years and decades to come.

What a superb song.
On one hand it is light, on the other hand it has a very strong and important message.
It should be played more often on Indian mass media channels. One hardly gets to see this.
Seeing Kishore Kumar singing this song in this manner will hopefully make some people realise the futility of religion-based tensions.
