There are many songs that become popular in its time and then go on to achieve evergreen status. And then there are many songs that achieve considerable popularity during their time, only to get forgotten with passage of time.
Many of these forgotten songs deserve to be revived, because they were absolutely wonderful songs.
“Holi aayi re” was a movie released in 1971. I have repeatedly mentioned it that 1971 saw a bumper crop of outstanding songs, which made many great songs miss out on popularity stakes. One song from “Holi aayi re” viz.” meri tamannaon ki taqdeer tum sanwaar do” became popular and it is still regarded as one of Mukesh’s memorable song. But there were some other nice songs too in this movie.
This Kishore Kumar song, the topic of this post was an outstanding comedy song. The character in the film has bought a lottery ticket and is as sure of winning the first prize. He is already counting his chickens and deciding what he is going to do with the lottery money.
Here is Kishore Kumar at his comical best. Wonderful, just wonderful ! This song is picturised on Rajendranath. So this song is an out and out funny song in all counts. Qamar Jalalabadi wrote this song and Kalyanji Anandji composed the music.
