My regular readers may have noticed that I classify my songs based on the place where the song is picturised. Thus we have had car song, rail song, even elephant song, in this blog.
This particular song is a bathroom song by my definition because it is sung in a bathroom. Unlike most bathroom songs which are sung by amateur bathroom singers, this bathroom song is sung by no less a singer than Lata. What is more, this must be one of the sweetest and most melodious songs that Lata must have sung in her career. At least that is what I have always felt about this song.
The lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri has written this song with great enthusiasm as is evident from the lyrics of the song. The scene is picturised on Saira Bano, who was perhaps one of the “bold” actresses who would agree to sing a “bathroom ” and “bathtub” song. Yes, this song is a bathroom cum bathtub cum shower song, which is a bit too much for most Bollywood actresses even today.
It is an evergreen song. And there are more such songs in this movie. In fact, this movie is a treasure trove of great evergreen songs, and I will definitely discuss more songs from this movie in this blog.

thanks! jab bhi saira ko dekh taa hoon mera hosh udh jaatha hai , yeh gaane ko main suna dus baar continuously, by the way padosan ka song konsa category mein milega

Look up in the page “List of songs by movies”, look it up under movies beginning with the letter “P”.
So far only two “Padosan” songs have been posted.

Very nice song. Guess what ? I did not know it was a “bathroom” song. I have seen this movie long back but did not remember this song in the movie though I knew it was in the movie.
Talking of “bathroom” songs, the one that comes first to my mind is from Padosan.
