Bade armaano se rakha hai balam
Posted on: November 11, 2008
It is a song from Malhaar (1951) when all the persons involved in the creation of this song were new in Bollywood industry. Fresh voices of Lata and Mukesh, who were finding their feet in Bollywood sing under the baton of Roshan, himself trying to establish himself as a music director and Shyamlal, who was writing his first lyrics in 5 years. Yes, Shyamlal was the real name of the lyricist who later became better known as Indeewar.
All these strugglers ( Lata was rather better established among them, though) produced some fantastic songs in Malhaar. This particular song is especially noteworthy. This song is so melodious and sounds so fresh tat I have difficulty believing that this song was recorded 57 years ago. It is indeed a timeless and evergreen song. I have heard this song many a times, and this song sounds so sweet and melodious every time.
This is the case without paying attention to the lyrics. If one pays attention to the lyrics then it enhances the listening pleasure even more and magically transports us to the innocent world of 1951 when and taking the first tentative steps in the process of falling in love could be described so nicely in the form of such cute lyrics. Those were the days !
The song is picturised on Arjun and Shammi. Not much was heard of Arjun after this movie, whereas Shammi soon found herself playing the roles of horeoine’s saheli and later aunt in future movies.

Song- Bade armaanon se rakha hai balam (Malhaar) 1951) Singers-Lata, Mukesh, Lyrics- Shyamlal ( Indeewar), MD-Roshan
Lyrics
bade armaanon se rakhaa hai balam teri kasam
o balam teri kasam
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho, pahlaa kadam
judaa na kar sakenge hamko zamaane ke sitam
ho, zamaane ke sitam
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho, pahlaa kadam
le uthaa pyaar bhi angdaayi hai, dil bhi jawaan
aji, aise mein liye jaate ho tum bolo kahaan
aji, aise mein liye jaate ho tum bolo kahaan
door duniyaa ki nigaahon se kahin jaayenge ham
o kahin jaayenge ham
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho pahla kadam
bade armaanon se rakhaa hai balam teri kasam
o balam teri kasam
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho, pahlaa kadam
teri do aankhon mein dikhte hain mujhe donon jahaan
inhi mein kho gayaa dil meraa kaho dhoondun kahaan
inhi mein kho gayaa dil meraa kaho dhoondun kahaan
chaand ghattaa ho ghate apni mohabbat na ho kam
o mohabbat na ho kam
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho pahla kadam
bade armaanon se rakhaa hai balam teri kasam
o balam teri kasam
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho, pahlaa kadam
meri naiyaa ko kinaare kaa intzaar nahin
meri naiyaa ko kinaare kaa intzaar nahin
teraa aanchal ho to patwaar bhi darkaar nahin
teraa aanchal ho to patwaar bhi darkaar nahin
tere hote huye kyun ho mujhe toofaan kaa gham
mujhe toofaan kaa gham
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho, pahlaa kadam
bade armaanon se rakhaa hai balam teri kasam
o balam teri kasam
pyaar ki duniyaa mein ye pahlaa kadam
ho, pahlaa kadam …

I guess the actress in the song is Shammi. She also appears in the song Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh.

Undoubtedly , the most cherishable Mukesh Lata duet . Any music lover discern for listening to it again and again without getting bored . Apart from Mukeshji , Lataji ; its composers Roshanji and Indeeverji demand special acclamation . Atulji , I did not know the real name of Indeeverji is Shyamlal . I thank you for that . I also maintain that you are putting a lot of hard work to keep this blog ever throbbing . This is the most systematic blog in which we old classic song lovers are bright under one platform and exchange our views freely.

Totally agree.
There are many good songs in this movie.
This particular one “bade armaan se” you can keep listening to, without getting tired of it.
I think I mentioned somewhere that Mukesh and Roshan were very close friends. In fact, Roshan helped Mukesh a lot in his early years. This was one of the movies where you can see their collaboration working out.
