O basanti pawan paagal

This movie is “Jis Desh mein Ganga Bahti hai”, and it is regarded as an important movie of Raj Kapoor.
This movie indeed shows a river, but is that river really Ganga ? That is hardly the case.
Look at this song “O basanti pawan paagal”, and look at the location where this song is shot. One can see marble rocks and one can see a river flowing between them. Towards the end of the song, Padmini is seen entering a temple that is so unmistakably the “chaunshat yogini temple at Bhedaghat, Jabalpur.”
In brief, this song is picturised near Jabalpur at the location of the river Narmada.
Of course I am not complaining. I do not think one can find such picturesque location anywhere else for a song like this. I just thought I should bring it to the notice of the readers reading this blog.

I have heard several tunes of future songs from Shankar Jaikishan, in earlier movies such as Aah.

Beautiful song and dance. I do not mean to nit pick but there is one significant error in spelling(although that is Hinglish too).
It is Chaunsath, not chaunshat in the temples name. Chaunsath means 64 and Chaunshat means whatever….

I love this song, but I did not know it was filmed around Jabalpur. Since my earliest years were spent in Nagpur and Jabalpur, I have this yearning to revisit those places and now you have given me an added incentive to do so. Not only has this blog given me friends, support at a time when I needed it, music to soothe me when I needed it, but it has also evoked nostalgia in me for childhood haunts. Thanks, Atul!

The place where the song was picturised is called Bhedaghat (20 km from Jabalpur city) and it is a tourist attraction.
Nagpur and Jabalpur are far different places today than what you may have remembered during your stay there.

One small error in lyrics :
(cheen kar naino se kaajan na jaa re naa jaa roko koyi)
“KAAJAL” is right word, and kaajan (as written in your lyrics) have no meaning at all.

The tune of this song can be heard in Awara ten years earlier. The tune of “Jane kahan gaye woh din” can be heard in this film ten years before the movie “Mera Naam Joker” was released.
Just goes to prove that great tunes are timeless. They feel fresh even after fifty years.
