Itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen

This is the kind of song that I fondly call a “chayageet song” which by its nature is a romantic song if you are in the right mood, or a sleep inducing song if you are not, since such songs are sung at night time. 😉
This song is sung by Rafi under the music direction of Ravi and Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist.
This song is picturised on Sunil Dutt. The song also shows a lady moving on a wheelchair. She looks somewhat familar, but I am not able to tell who she is. Can anyone help in establishing her identity ?

Song-Itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen (Aaj aur Kal) (1963) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD- Ravi
Lyrics
itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen
itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen
jaage hain kuchh ajeeb se jazbaat kyaa karen
itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen
pedon ke baazuon me lachakti hai chandni
pedon ke baazuon me lachakti hai chandni
bechain ho rahin hain khaylaat kya karen
bechain ho rahin hain khaylaat kya karen
jaage hain kuchh ajeeb se jazbaat kyaa karen
itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen
saanson mein ghul rahi hai kisi saans ki mahak
saanson mein ghul rahi hai kisi saans ki mahak
daaman ko chhoo rahaa hai koyi haath kyaa karen
daaman ko chhoo rahaa hai koyi haath kyaa karen
jaage hain kuchh ajeeb se jazbaat kyaa karen
itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen
shaayad tumhaare aane se ye bhed khul sake
shaayad tumhaare aane se ye bhed khul sake
hairaan hain ki aaj nayi baat kyaa karen
hairaan hain ki aaj nayi baat kyaa karen
jaage hain kuchh ajeeb se jazbaat kyaa karen
itni haseen itni jawaan raat kyaa karen

Looks like today Atul is clearing a lot of backlog of my farmaishes. 🙂
Thank you, Atul.
I love this song – Rafi saab keeps a lilting, soft tone throughout the song. Indeed it is Nanda.
Probably a better-known song of this movie is “yeh waadiyan ye fizaayen bula rahi hain tumhen”. Or that Asha beauty “mujhe galey se laga lo, bahut udaaas hoon main”.

Lady on wheelchair I believe was Nanda, without any doubt M.Rafi was on peak that time.Atul keep it up, these old songs brings some childhood memories back in life.

Very nice, soothing song. I vaguely remember hearing this song, but I don’t think it was very popular, or maybe the other songs were more popular and hence this one faded from memory.
Incidentally, the lady is Nanda.
