Ye mera deewaanapan hai

I was not aware that Mukesh had given playback for Dilip Kumar. Here I can see that this Mukesh song is picturised on Dilip Kumar.
The movie is “Yahudi” and this song has been sung beautifully by Mukesh, with his usual midas touch. The lyricist is Shailendra. Shankar Jaikishan are the music directors of this song and this movie.
Wow! What a song. It is a perfect song to listen to, If one is in the right mood ( “Chaayageet” mood).
PS-I thank Pradeep Raghunathan for pointing out that this song won Shailendra the Fimfare award for the best lyricist. On checking up, I found that this song stood seventh in Binaca geetmala annual programme of 1958. The most popular “Yahudi” song of that year incidentally was Meri jaan meri jaan pyaar kisi se ho hi gayaa hai which was fourth in that programme.

Song-Ye mera deewanapan hai (Yahudi) (1958 ) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
dil se tujhko bedili hai mujhko hai dil ka guroor
tu ye maane ke naa maane log maanenge zuroor
ye mera deewaanapan hai ya muhabbat ka suroor
ye mera deewaanapan hai ya muhabbat ka suroor
tu na pahchaane to hai ye teri nazron ka qusoor
ye mera deewaanapan hai
dil ko teri hi tamanna dil ko hai tujhse hi pyaar
dil ko teri hi tamanna dil ko hai tujhse hi pyaar
chaahe tu aaye na aaye ham karenge intezaar
ye mera deewaanapan hai ya muhabbat ka suroor
tu na pahchaane to hai ye teri nazron ka qusoor
ye mera deewaanapan hai
aise veerane me ek din ghut ke mar jaayenge ham
aise veerane me ek din ghut ke mar jaayenge ham
jitna jee chaahe pukaaro phir nahin aayenge ham
ye mera deewaanapan hai ya muhabbat ka suroor
tu na pahchaane to hai ye teri nazron ka qusoor
ye mera deewaanapan hai
ye mera deewaanapan hai

Atul, a nice number indeed. I guess it also won the best lyricist award for Shailendra (you mention it as Sharayar). This information was on Wikipedia.

The song was written by Shailendra as pointed out by Pradeep Raghunathan. Please change the name in the tags.
Sharayar is a very famous Urdu poet and a few of his ghazals have been used in Hindi films such as GAMAN (1979) and UMRAO JAAN (1981). My request to you is to remove the word ‘someone’ with reference to Sharayar in your write up.

This is a great song and definitely a chayageet song. Thanks for this song, Atul. This movie had a couple of other good songs too, which I will include in the farmaish section.
Mukesh has sung for Dilip Kumar prior to this also, the songs “Toote na dil toote na …” and “Tu kahe agar …”, as well as “Hum aaj kahin dil kho baithe …” in Andaz have all been sung by Mukesh. Then we have “Suhana Safar …” and “Dil tadap tadap ke …” from Madhumati. I can’t remember any others, but I am wondering about the song in Mela “Gaaye jaa geet milan ke …”.
