Late 1970s and early 1980s was the time when Bollywood was in the grips of disco craze.
This greatly affected the kinds of songs betting included in movies. Lyrics lost in importance, and disco beats became all important.
Now, three decades later, very few of these disco songs are remembered by anyone, while songs far more older than them are still fondly remembered.
One of the few disco songs that are still remembered today belonged to “Karz”. This 1980 movie had music by Laxmikant Pyarelal and the lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.
I do not think Anand Bakshi’s lyrics writing skills may have been much stressed while penning this song. And I have a feeling that this music could well have been inspired from outside sources. And that is certainly not what one would like Laxmikant Pyarelal to be remembered for.
The song was picturised on Rishi Kapoor and this song was quite a big craze in 1980.

Surprising that there is no comment for this hit song. All songs from Karz was a super hit. The movie was one of the few movies that were etched in memory.
