Just like we had Rafi-Shammi Kapoor songs, we also had Mukesh-Raj Kapoor songs.
And these Mukesh-Raj Kapoor songs were typically written by Shailendra and the music was composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
This is one such song from “Anaadi” (1959).Having watched the picturisation of this, I must say that it is quite a feel good song. and many others have felt the same about this song over the past five decades.

Today is the birth anniversary of Shailendra and it will be an incomplete tribute to a great man without listening to this song which, I consider, should be the motto of every human being. One of his line from the song:
“Ke marke bhi kisi ko yaad aayenge”
How true it is.

Thanks ever so much for this song, Atul. This has been my father’s favorite song for the last 40 plus years or so, and he still does not have the words right, but he will always mention that this is the song where RK picks up the scorpion and moves it out of the way. My sons love to listen to their grandfather sing it with the wrong words, esp when I tell them how my mother always used to correct him, and he still persisted with the wrong words. Just listening to it brings a smile to my face, both for the memories it evokes, and the beauty of the simple lyrics.
