Aise na mujhe tum dekho

Dev Anand was a popular hero in 1950s and 1960s. But unfortunately he did not know when to call it a day. He continued to act one fourth his age long into 1980s with most of his movies falling flat at the box office.
Kishore Kumar who was giving playback for Dev saab from 1950s was still belting out nice songs for him, but even his great songs could not prevent Dev Anand movies from failing.
Here is a Kishore Kumar song from a Dev Anand movie called “Darling Darling”.
In this movie, Dev Saab plays a hero opposite a girl one fourth his age and the audience rejected the movie. Of course Dev Anand was not one to read the writing on the wall.
The song is picturised on Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman. Zeenat Aman, playing his sister in “Dum Maaro Dum” (1972) had graduated to play Dev saab’s love interest by that time, and the movie goers were naturally suitably underwhelmed. The picturisation also shows Jeewan carrying a gun and aiming to shoot Dev saab. He was clearly far from a sharp shooter as can be seen in the picturisation. 🙂
In any case, it is a nice song to listen to, and may be one can watch the song as well for the sake of nostalgia.

@Atul ji – all the songs for this movie are written by Anand Bakshi. Kindly correct the lyricist name and respective ‘tag’ please.

This song brings back lots of memories. It was quite popular in its time.
But I had no clue it was Dev Anand.
I very vaguely remember the name of this movie – have not seen it.
It must no doubt have tanked without a trace.
But the song is very nice – and pretty hummable.
Perfect for eve-teasers, I would suppose.
Now, should that be a category 😉 ?
