In Bollywood movies, one associates Maajhi songs with S D Burman and R D Burman. And these songs are mostly sung by S D Burman and Kishore Kumar.
But there is one brilliant maanjhi song that comes from entirely different quarters. This song is sung by Yesudas and it was written and composed by Ravindra Jain. The movie itself was called “Naiyya” (1979) viz Boat.
This song was picturised on Prashant Nanda (an Oriya actor making his Bollywood debut in this Rashree Productions movie) and Zarina Wahab.
I was looking for this song for ages. As far as I am concerned, this is an amazing maanjhi song, one that has been touching my herat strings everytime I listen to this son, or more accurately, every time I think about this song, considering that I am actually lisening to this song after three decades.

Yesudas is such a fine singer. The Hindi film industry could have made more good use of his wonderful voice. Thanks to the likes of people like Ravindra Jain, we have a treasure trove of songs by this living legend.
