Chupke se miley pyaase pyaase

Posted on: March 15, 2009

There have been at least two movies called “Manzil” that I know. I have posted one rain song from the newer “Manzil” starring Amitabh Bachchan. Here is a duet from the older “Manzil” starring Dev Anand and Nutan.

This 1960 movie had music by S D Burman, whereas the 1978 movie by the same name had music by his son. This song from “Manzil” (1960) is “Chupke se mile pyaase pyaase”. It is sung by Rafi and Geeta Dutt. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. And let me confess, I had never heard this song before today, but apparently a 16 year old reader of this blog had. And this song is on the farmaish of Peevesie.

Song-Chupke se mile pyaase pyaase (Manzil) (1960) Singers-Rafi, Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-S D Burman

Lyrics

Chupke se mile pyaase pyaase
kuchh ham kuchh tum
kuchh
kya ho jo ghata khulke barse
rumjhum rumjhum
rumjhum rumjhum
Chupke se mile pyaase pyaase
kuchh ham kuchh tum
kuchh ham kuchh tum

jhukti huyi aankhon me hai
bechain se armaan kayi
rukti huyi saansoon me hai
khaamosh se toofaan kayi
madhyam madhyam madhyam
hmmm hmmm
Chupke se mile pyaase pyaase
kuchh ham kuchh tum
kuchh ham kuchh tum

thandi hawa ka shor hai
ya pyaar ka sangeet hai
chitwan teri ik saaz hai
dhadkan teri
ek geet hai
thandi hawa ka shor hai
ya pyaar ka sangeet hai
chitwan teri ik saaz hai
dhadkan meri
ik geet hai
madhyam madhyam madyam
hmmm hmmm
Chupke se mile pyaase pyaase
kuchh ham kuchh tum
kuchh
kya ho jo ghata khulke barse rumjhum rumjhum
rumjhum rumjhum
kuchh ham kuchh tum
kuchh ham kuchh

Somebody read my mind! There are two more very nice songs in this movie, and I am glad I got the chance to mention them here:

Dil to hai deewana naa maanega bahana naa … Rafi and Asha

Yaad aagayi woh nasheeli nigaahen … Hemant or Rafi

Bringing out these old forgotten melodies is no easy task, and I admire your persistence in finding them and then writing about them. I read yesterday that you had reached 900, so I know you will reach your 1000th song soon. And here is a song that could be used to celebrate that occasion:

Tum jiyo hazaaron saal saal ke din ho pachas hazaar … Asha in Sujata

(I haven’t checked to see if you have already written about this one!)

Thanks again.

I was wondering if this song that I vaguely remember is also from this movie:

Ek saath chalte chalte
yeh teen rahi dil ke
chand aur main aur tum …

I think it is sung by Rafi and possibly Asha.
I am sure you will be able to figure it out, or else our encyclopedia, aka Raja, will have the answer.

Thanks, Atul, for all the great songs.
