Kamaata hoon bahut kuchh

Bollywood movie makers often tend to have same titles as that of old movies. For instance, I am aware of three movies titled “Adhikar”. The most well known of them for me is the movie of 1971 which was a musical blockbuster ( though the movie itself did not do well). There was another movie by this name in 1986.
But the earliest movie of this name known to me was made in 1954. This was a movie starring Kishore Kumar and Usha Kiran. People who followed Kishore Kumar’s career in 1950s may recall that Kishore Kumar was known for some real funny roles those days. He not only acted in funny roles, he would also sing some heartwarmingly funny songs.
It was during the same year that Kishore Kumar had sung the iconic song “din hai suhaana aaj pahli taarikh hai” (from “Pahli taarikh”). This song very realistically and amusingly portrayed the dilemma of a salaried person.
This song from “Adhikar” (1954) is almost a continuation of the “Pahli Taarikh” title song. In this song, Kishore Kumar explains ( rationalises) that he earns enough but his wife is to be blamed for his perpetual financial woes.
Unlike the “Pahli taarikh” song, this song is a duet and the wife does not take this accusation lying down, she (Usha Kiran, singing in the voice of Geeta Dutt) in turn accuses Kishore Kumar of financial indiscipline. The line where Geeta Dutt mockingly mimics Kishore Kumar (“kamaata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai”) is priceless.
In fact, the entire song is priceless and it should have been just as well known as the “pahli taarikh” song. I hope that this post of mine will help this song become better known among the lovers of old Bollywood songs.
Another less known tidbit about this movie and the song is that this movie was remade in 1980s as “Sweekaar Kiya maine” where the roles of Kishore Kumar and Usha Kiran was played by Vinod Mehra and Shabana Azmi respectively. In this 1980, Kishore Kumar sang the same song yet again.
Song-Kamaata hoon bahut kuchh (Adhikaar) (1954) Singers-Kishore Kumar, Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Raja Mehdi Ali Khan,MD-Avinash Vyas
Lyrics
kamaata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
kamaata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
kuch income tax le jaata hai kuch beevi udaati hai
kuch income tax le jaata hai kuch beevi udaati hai
kamaata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
achaa
kaho tum kuch bhi lekin
ye samajhdaaron ka kahna hai
kaho tum kuch bhi lekin
ye samajhdaaron ka kahna hai
kyaa
luta dete hain ghar ko mard aurat ghar banaati hai
luta dete hain ghar ko mard aurat ghar banaati hai
aaa
teri in saadiyon ne jumperon ne maar daala hai
aaa
teri in saadiyon ne arre jumperon ne maar daala hai
teri deewali ki khaatir mera nikla deewaala hai
main kadka
main kadka
main kadka jeb se tu scent kapdon me lagaati hai
main kadka jeb se tu scent kapdon me lagaati hai
kamaata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
busen bhi shahr me chalti hain
are to chalne do kya hua
busen bhi shahr me chalti hain
kyun taxi me jaate ho
cinema dekhte ho
hotlon ke bill chukaato ho
kamaayi aadhi baahar aur aadhi ghar me aati hai
kamaayi aadhi baahar aur aadhi ghar me aati hai
luta dete hain ghar ko mard aurat ghar banaati hai
kamata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
kamata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
ubal jaat ho chahe doodh chaahe roti jalti ho
pahan kar reshmi saa..
are mori sa
more mori saa
nakhre waali nakhre waali
sun le mori
sun le mori
sa re pa dha ni sa
sa ni dha pa re sa
tu hai nipat anaadi
pahan kar reshmi saadi
tum aise aise chalti ho
tum aise aise chalti hoon
main baaten jab sunaata hoon
mujhe aankhen dikhaati hai
main baaten jab sunaata hoon
mujhe aankhen dikhaati hai
kamata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
udaa dete hain paisa baad me
phir haat malte hain
kyun
kisi ne kah diyaa hai
phir haat malo so
daba me munh me cigarette
aap aise aise chalte hai
museebat sar pe jab aati hai
beevi kaam aati hai
museebat sar pe jab aati hai
beevi kaam aati hai
luta dete hai ghar ko mard aurat ghar banaati hai
kamata hoon bahut kuchh par kamaayi doob jaati hai
paandu naka pandu naka
paandu naka pandu naka
nahin daam nahin daam
nahin daam nahin daam
mere paas daam nahin hai
mere paas daam nahi hai
ho ho ho ho ho

Wow…what a lovely song this is. 🙂
First time I am hearing this in my life – and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks, Atul.
Reminds me of another total timepass song by Kishore from around the same time.
“Kuen mein kood ke mar jaana yaar tum shaadi mat karna” from Parivar.
Worth posting – but it is a somewhat long song, so maybe a lot of work.

Raja, the song you mention sounds like the opposite of the song “zaroorat hai zaroorat hai ek shrimati ki …”, also by Kishore Kumar! These are all delightful songs, and it is a pity that we do not get such songs any more.

Saw this post for the first time ever today. Have been seeing this song on TV for sometime now. Hence searched for it on the blog. Read all the comments by Rajaji, Lalithaji etc.
Just saw that you have mentioned “This movie starring Kishore Kumar and Kajal Kiran”. I think it needs correction to Usha Kiran as you have mentioned later in the post.

This is priceless! Once again, you found a song that I have never heard before, and it is a joy to the ears. I have no idea how you manage to unearth so many treasures, but I will enjoy them all. Just keep them coming.
