Here is a fun song from “Boyfriend” (1961) that I was intending to post for quite some time, but I was unable to do so earlier.
Shammi Kapoor, while distracted by Madhubala collides with a bhaajiwaali (lady vegetable vendor) and sends her basket flying. He helps the bhaajiwaali get her stuff back in her basket, with the lady giving him a mouthful in Marathi all this while.Shammi Kapoor, watching the shapely behind of the vegetable vendor receding heaves a sigh of relief, only to be interrupted by the laughter of Madhubala, who is quite enjoying this spectacle from a distance.
Madhubala and Shammi Kapoor, now that is a dream come true situation for the spectators, and indeed this movie was perhaps the only such opportunity to watch both of them together in the same movie.

Yes, the lyricist is Hasrat Jaipuri. Does anyone know if the word ‘Aigo’ is taken from any regional vernacular or is it just one of those filler words employed to lend the tune a hummable catchy touch.
All in all it’s a fun, light song, in sync with Shammi’s on-screen persona.

“Aiga”, in Marathi, means O Mother (O MAA in Hindi).
