Teri duniya me jeene se to behtar hai ke mar jaayen

I have no idea about the story of “House Number 44” (1955) so I do not know the context of this song, but this Hemant Kumar song is regarded as a classic.
This is a sad and poignant song, and could be regarded by a negative song by present day standard. It was written by Sahir Ludhianvi and the music was composed by S D Burman. It was picturised on Dev Anand.

Song-Teri duniya me jeene se (house number 44) (1955) Singer-Hemant Kumar, Lyrics-Sahir Ludhianvi, MD-S D Burman
Lyrics
hmm hmm
aa aa
Teri duniya me jeene se to behtar hai ke mar jaayen
wahi aansoon wahi aahen
wahi gham hai jidgar jaayen
Teri duniya me jeene se to behtar hai ke mar jaayen
koi to aisa ghar hota jahaan se pyaar mil jaata
koi to aisa ghar hota jahaan se pyaar mil jaata
wahi begaane chehre hain
jahaan pahunche jidhar jaayen
Teri duniya me jeene se to behtar hai ke mar jaayen
ho o o
aa aa
hmm
arre o aasman waale bataa
ismen buraa kyaa hai
arre o asmaan waale
arre o aasman waale bataa
ismen buraa kyaa hai
khushi ke chaar jhonke gar idhar se bhi guzar jaayen
Teri duniya me jeene se to behtar hai ke mar jaayen

Very nice song. I have been knowing (and singing) this song for years without ever considering it particularly negative. If you talk about negative songs then my mind first goes to songs like “mere dushman tu meri dosti ko tarse” and “jo unki tamanna hai barbaad ho jaaye”.
This song is poignant, no doubt.
