Kishore Kumar, who was mainly known for acting in funny roles tended to make serious movies when he himself made movies ( “Chalti ka naa gaadi” being an exception).
“Jhumroo” was one movie that was produced by Kishore Kumar. In this movie, he not only acted and sang, he even composed the music. The lyrics though were Majrooh Sultanpuri’s in this song which incidentally was a sad song. Indeed Kishore Kumar’s sad songs could rend the hearts of the listeners as he could bring out the feelings of pain and hurt so very well.
This song has gone on to become a Kishore Kumar classic. Picturisation of this shows Kishore Kumar and Madhubala, both looking pensive.

On his debut as a music director for Jhumroo in 1961,Kishore Kumar lifted the Koee humdum na rahaa note by note,word for word from 1936 movie Jeewan Naiya sung by his elder brother Ashok Kumar.It was composed by music director Saraswati Devi and written by Jamuna Swarup Casshyap.
