Nashe mein ham nashe mein tum

When someone talks about “Black Cat”, one thinks of the well armed special protection group commandoes who protect VVIPs of India. But long ago in more laidback days, black cat only meant what it literally means, viz ‘kaali billi”, the small domesticated cat which, if it crossed your way, was considered inauspicious (for you, not for the cat itself).
Unknown to most Bollywood fans, there was one movie called “Black Cat” too. Yes, this movie which was released exactly 50 years ago in 1959 had Johny Walker in the lead role.
Here is a song from this movie. It is a party song, sung in a club, where Johny Walker, our hero pretends to be drunk. A party song and dance is about to commence. Being the hero, he too goes to the stage, unchallenged , and starts singing this song. How interesting to note that the lady dancer Kumkum too had come prepared to sing the very same song. So Bollywood characters used to be telepathetic even 50 years ago!
This song is sung by Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. Jaan Nissar Akhtar is the lyricist and music director is N Datta, who was a well known music director those days.
