Haan pehli baar ek ladki mera haath pakad kar
Posted on: May 1, 2009
There are great songs that become all time great hits. And then there are some great songs that for some reason end up in obscurity. I have already posted a few obscure songs that deserved to be much better known among music lovers.
Take this song for example. This song is sung by Kishore Kumar and it goes “haan pahli baar ek ladki mera haath pakadkar”. Does it ring a bell ? It did not ring a bell with me. But when one listens to this song, one is left wondering how this song failed to become a great hit.
The reasons are not too difficult to seek. This song is from a C grade movie called “Aur Kaun” (1979), which was a Ramsay Brothers’ movie, who were known for making “horror” movies, which were non mainstream movies and few people watched such movies.
Bappi Lahiri, then barely a few years into music direction was the music director and his music for this song was so nice. But his music, Amit Khanna’s lyrics and Kishore Kumar’s superb singing failed to do much for this movie. In fact, the song suffered because of the failure of the movie at the box office.
I may have heard this song during its time, but I did not pay much attention to it. But now that I have listened to it carefully, I am certain that this Kishore Kumar song deserves to be ranked among the very best songs that he has sung in his long and illustrious career.
This song was picturised on Sachin and Rajni Sharma, both small time actors. The movie was nothing much to write home about. The video link available is of poor audio quality. It is better to listen to just the audio link, ( provided below the video link) which is of a vastly superior quality.
And incidentally, this song marks the completion of yet another century for this blog, namely the 12th century. Yes, this song is the 1200th song of this blog. And as was the case for earlier centuries, I decided to post a special song on this occasion, viz a song which was a great song, but at the same time a song that was not very well known. And I think this song fits the bill perfectly.
And I take this opportunity to thank my visitors who make this labour of love a cause worth devoting time to. It is thanks to the continued encouragements from them that this blog is adding nearly 200 songs every month for the last several months. I hope that I will continue to get such encouragements in future too. And I specially thank those visitors who offer their comments on this blog. That not only gives me valuable input, that is the motivation that keeps me going.

pahli baar
haan Pahli baar
Ik ladki mera haath pakadkar
boli haan re haan
haan Pahli baar
haan pahli baar
Ik ladki mera haath pakadkar
boli haan re haan
haan pahli baar
kisi ko na pata chala kyaa ho gaya
aisi mili nazren ke dil Kho gaya
kisi ko na pataa chala kyaa ho gaya
aisi mili nazren ke dil Kho gaya
chupke se woh
pehlu mein aaaaaa
chupke se woh
pehlu mein aa
boli mujhe aa re aa
haan Pahli baar
haan pahli baar
Ik ladki mera haath pakadkar
boli haan re haan
haan pahli baar
nasha aankhon mein ab chhaane lagaa hai
mazaa jeene ka ab aane lagaa hai
nasha aankhon mein ab chhaane lagaa hai
mazaa jeene ka ab aane lagaa hai
saath hain woh
paas hain woh ho
saath hain woh
paas hain woh
aaj aahi na re naaaaa
haan pahli baar
haan pahli baar
Ik ladki mera haath pakadkar
boli haan re haan
haan pahli baar
saanson mein saans jab mil jaayegi
kali sapno ki khil jaayegi
saanson mein saans jab mil jaayegi
kali sapno ki khil jaayegi
kal ka mujhe yaad nahin
kal ka mujhe yaad nahin
aaj ki baat waah re waah aaaa
haan pahli baar
haan pahli baar
Ik ladki mera haath pakadkar
boli haan re haan
haan pahli baar
haan pahli baar
Ik ladki mera haath pakadkar
boli haan re haan

What an excellent choice for your 1200th song! I first heard this a few years back on a compilation CD titled “Kareeb Karismatic Kishore” and loved it right away, as well as the rest of the not-so-common songs on the CD. Thanks for finding the video for this one, never watched it before… it’s a shame it was wasted in this manner, like so many other wonderful songs.

This song was very famous at the time when I was in college, and we friends used to twist the song as haan pehli baar ek ladki mera hath pakadke boli ‘bhaijan’.
