Masti mein chhed ke taraana koyi dil ka

Posted on: May 1, 2009

I have posted several fine songs from “Haqeeqat” (1964), but I had not yet posted this song.

This song “masti me chhed ke taraana koyi dil kaa” is a “Jeep” song. Listening to this song, one does feel like forgetting ones woes for some time and imagining what it would be like to be with one’s beloved. Well, there are songs that I call “chaayageet” song, in honour of the late night radio programme on Vividh Bharati. In case of this song, I think, one could call it a “Jaimala” song, in honour of another legendary Vividh Bharati programme, which is broadcast in the evenings.

So here is this wonderful “jaimala” song from “Haqeeqat” (1964).This song, sung with verve by Rafi was written by Kaifi Azmi and the music was composed by Madan Mohan. This movie “Haqeeqat” which was a war movie had some superb songs created by the combination of Kaifi Azmi and Madan Mohan, and this song is very much one of those classy songs.

This song is picturised on Vijay Anand, the brother of Dev Anand and Chetan Anand. Chetan Anand incidentally was the producer , director and writer of this movie.

Song-Masti me chhed ke taraana koyi dil ka (Haqeeqat) (1964) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Kaifi Azmi, MD-Madan Mohan

Lyrics

ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho
laralaralarala
ho ho ho ho ho ho ho ho

masti mein chhedke taraanaa koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa
masti mein chhedke taraanaa koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa

pyaar bahaltaa nahin bahlaane se
pyaar bahaltaa nahin bahlaane se
lo main chaman ko chalaa veeraane se
shamaa hai kab se judaa parwaane se
ashq thamenge nazar mil jaane se
dil se milegaa deewaanaa koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa
masti mein chhedke taraanaa koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa

milke wo pahle bahut sharmaayegi
milke wo pahle bahut sharmaayegi
aage badhegi magar ruk jaayegi
hoke kareeb kabhi ghabraayegi
aur kareeb kabhi khinch aayegi
khel nahin hai manaana koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa
masti mein chhedke taraanaa koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa

mukhde se zulf zaraa sarkaaungaa
arre mukhde se zulf zaraa sarkaaungaa
suljhegaa pyaar ulajh main jaaungaa
paake bhi haay bahut pachhtaaungaa
aisa suqoon kahaan phir paaungaa
aur nahin hai thikaanaa koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa
masti mein chhedke taraanaa koyi dil kaa
aaj lutaayegaa khazaanaa koyi dil kaa
aaa haa haa
oho ho hoho

Wow nice song! I had never heard this ever before.
Who is the actor by the way? He looks like he’s copying some of the mannerisms of Shammi Kapoor.

It is none other than Vijay Anand, brother of Dev Anand. Chetan Anand their brother, was the director of this movie.

Just a small correction Atul-ji,
In the third antara, the 4th line goes like this:
Paake “rihaayi” bahut pachtaaoonga

Who is Vijay Anand’s lady-love in this movie. I was seeing the movie now, and the title has the names of 2 ladies whom I don’t recognize – gulab and nasreen.

Gulab was an actress since 1930s. So she is ruled out.
That leaves Nasreen. She could be the one who had acted in films like ‘Shriman Satyawaadi’ (1960), ‘Deewana’ (1964), ‘Neel Kamal’ (1965) etc. Her face resembles that of Shakila. A further search on the net revealed that in addition to Noor (Johny Walker’s wife), Shakila had one more younger sister, Ghazala who adopted the screen name ‘Nasreen’ while working in the films.

So, my guess is that the lady-love of Vijay Anand in the song is Nasreen..
