I continue to stumble upon some interesting songs quite regularly. And look what an interesting song I stumbled upon today !
This is a song from “Toofaan Aur Diya” (1956). It is a teasing song between a kid brother and her sister. This song is picturised on a very cute, pretty and young Nanda. Her kid brother is played by Satish Vyas. Their elder ( father perhaps ?) is played by Keshavrao Date.
It is a very cute song written wonderfully well by Bharat Vyas. The grasp of Bharat Vyas over the idioms of Hindi is just seen to be believed. It is so refreshing to listen to a song which uses day to day words, rather than garandiloquent words, and does so very effectively.This song is a masterclass of how to come up with a wonderful song using words of common usage.
The music is very clearly inspired from “Nagin”, still the tune is lovely to listen to and blends in nicely with this song. Vasant Desai was the music director.
And before I forget to mention it, this song is a rare song where both Lata and Geeta Dutt lend their voices. Lata sings for Nanda and Geeta Dutt for Satish Vyas. This is a very cute song indeed .
