“Laal Quila”(1960) was a C grade movie with lesser known actors and its music was by S N Tripathi, the biggest name in music direction in such movies.
But there was nothing C grade about the music of this movie. The song “na kisi ki aankh ka noor hoon” from this movie is a well known song. Other songs from this movie have been forgotten, but even they are nice songs.
Here is a song from “Laal Quila” sung by Lata. The lyrics is by Bharat Vyas, and it is picturised on Nirupa Roy and Jairaj. Yes, Nirupa Roy, who played Amitabh Bachchan’s mother in 1970s used to be a full fledged leading lady in 1950s. And what a lovely song she gets to lip sync here.
