Heroines in Bollywood movies need to win over the hero as well as his parents. to win over the hero, she sings romantic songs. To win over his parents, she wears the hat of a devout and sings bhajans, and thus wins over the prospective maa in law and baap in law.
Here, Saira Bano, who is seen singing such numbers as “dil wil pyaar vyaar main kya jaanoon re” when only the hero is around, poses like a desirable would be bahu in the presence of his parents. She sings a bhajan addressed to Kanha, duly winning over the hearts of Joy Mukherji’s parents ( played by Nazeer Hussain and Achala Sachdev).
And I must say it is a superb song. What lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri, what music by Laxmikant Pyarelal, and what superb rendering of this song by Lata. In fact, I had forgotten that this song was from this movie called “Shaagird” (1967).

Lyrics
hmm hmm
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi main tere dwaar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi mai tere dwaar
mohe chaakar samajh nihaar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi mai tere dwaar
tu jise chaahe aisi nahin main
haan teri Radha jaisi nahin main
phir bhi hoon kaisi
waisi nahin main
Krishna mohe
dekh to le ek baar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi main tere dwaar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi mai tere dwaar
Boond hi boond main pyaar ki chunkar
pyaasi rahi par laayi hoon Giridhar
toot hi jaaye aas ki gaagar
Mohna aisi kaankariya nahin maar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi main tere dwaar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi mai tere dwaar
maati karo ya swarn banaa lo
tan ko mere charnon se lagaalo
murli samajh haathon me uthaa lo
??? kachu ab hai Krishna muraar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi mai tere dwaar
mohe chaakar samajh nihaar
chaakar samajh nihaar
chaakar samajh nihaar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi mai tere dwaar
tere dwaar
Kaanha Kaanha aan padi mai tere dwaar

Arun ji,
With slight spelling corrections, this line should read
“Mohe Chaakar Samajh Nihaar”.
The meaning is – ‘Please look upon me as your servant’.
