Mazaa barsaat ka chaaho to in aankhon mein aa baitho

In this blog,I have repeatedly expressed my admiration for the music director Ganesh, who was unbelivably talented but did not get his rightful due from the industry.
It pains me to notice that little information is available on him on internet, and his songs, though of a very high quality ( including iconic songs) are very difficult to come by.
With painstaking research, I have gathered some information and it seems that Ganesh managed to get just 16 movies in which he composed some 80 plus songs. I have posted nearly a dozen of his songs in this blog. And all of these songs are superb high quality songs.
Here is another song composed by Ganesh. It is from the movie called “Husn aur Ishq” (1966). I have posted three superb songs from this movie already. Here is another song from this movie.
This song “mazaa barsaat ka chaaho” is a sad song, but I think the lyricist Asad Bhopali ( or was it Noor Dewasi) missed a trick by using the word “mazaa” in this song which is essentially a sad song. The word gives a wrong idea about this song perhaps being a muzra song or similar and that is what may have made me like this song a bit less than the other songs of this movie. Had the line been “dekhna barsaat jo chaaho ” instead of “Mazaa barsaat ka chaho”, then it would have become an absolutely great song as far as I was concerned.
Of course one cannot fault the quality of Ganesh’s music. It is outstanding, as always.
This song is picturised on L Vijaylaxmi, who played the heroine in this movie opposite Sanjeev Kumar.
In the lyrics, I found it difficult to follow a few words. I have used ??? in the lyrics where I had doubts about the words. Readers of this blog, who are able to understand these words are requested to point them out.
And need I tell you that like most Ganesh songs, this song too is a rare song- A rare classic, if you ask me.
Song-Maza barsaat ka chaaho to in aankhon mein aa baitho(Husn Aur Ishq) (1966) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Asad Bhopali, MD-Ganesh
Lyrics
maza barsaat ka chaaho
maza barsaat ka chaaho
to in aankhon mein aa baitho
maza barsaat ka chaaho
to in aankhon mein aa baitho
wo barson mein barastin hain
wo barson mein barastin hain
ye barson se tarasti hain
ho
muhabbat karke mumkin hai
zamaane ko bhulaa baitho
maza barsaat ka chaaho
to in aankhon mein aa baitho
mazaa barsaat ka
kab se dil intzaar mein jalta hai
ho ye ghar ghari (??) bahaar mein chalta hai
tumhe dhoondhi hai sulagti jawaani
agar ho sake to karo meharbaani
muhabbat ki qasam abto
muhabbat ki qasam abto
naye(??) hamse sataa baithe
muhabbat karke mumkin hai
zamaane ko bhulaa baithe
maza barsaat ka chaaho
to in aankhon mein aa baitho
mazaa barsaat ka
kab tak tumhaari yaad me tadpoon main
ho
kab tak tumhaare pyaar ko tarsoon main
lagi se hai ???
usi par nazar hai
adhoore hain sajde
duaa be-asar hai
guroore husn ke sadke
guroore husn ke sadke
?? banke Khuda baithe
ho
muhabbat karke mumkin hai
zamaane ko bhulaa baitho
maza barsaat ka chaaho
to in aankhon mein aa baitho

Am hearing this song for the first time (nowadays a lot of songs are coming in this category – which is good because I am learning new songs all the time this way).
Lovely song – really liked it a lot. I am also a fan of Ganesh’s music.
About the use of “mazaa”, yes I guess your suggestion of “dekhna barsaat jo chaaho” would be more appropriate. But “mazaa” is easier off the tongue than “dekhna”and there is a sense of turmoil in “mazaa barsaat ka” too. So I don’t mind this.
Coming to the “??”, the last two words I could just not make out.
As for the others :
kab se dil intzaar mein jalta hai
ho ye ghar ghari (??) bahaar mein chalta hai
I think there is no word there at all…it just flows form ghari to bahaar.
And, for the second occurrence :
muhabbat ki qasam abto
naye(??) hamse sataa baithe
I think it sounded to me like
naye ghumse sataa baithe.
Not sure of course !!!
Maybe somebody else has a different opinion.
