“Umang” (1970) was a movie which was made by students of Pune Fim Institute. All characters in the movie, except the oldtimers like Durga Khote etc were thus alumni of that institute.
I have posted two songs from this movie already. Here is another song from this movie.This is a college song.
As we all know by now, college students, as shown in Bollywood movies spend their time singing songs in classrooms and other places in their college campus. To this date, I have not seen any movie where students are seen studying. Of course, the hero and heroine stand first in the examinations without studying.
It is interesting to see the people who are visible in the picturisation of this song.The lead actors of this movie must have thought that they were the next big things in Bollywood. But unfortunately, this movie was the last that was seen of them. People who played insignificant roles, viz Paintal and Keshto Mukherji in fact became the most successful among all the actors shown in this song.
The most success that any of there students achieved was by Subhash Ghai. Yes, Subhash Ghai is also visible in this song.
Coming to the song, its picturisation is no great shakes. The song though is nice to listen to. Fortunately they had depended on experienced hands when it came to creating the music of this movie. Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle sang this song superbly. Hasrat Jaipuri was the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music. Their efforts were wasted by the amateurs of the Pune Institute, though.

The guy in all green (or blue)- I do not know what colour is that- is Subhash Ghai.
But I enjoyed watching Keshto Mukherji the most, but unfortunately he was not given much footage in the movie.

Thanks for the upload. This is still one of my favorite songs. I could not make the leading pair who are dancing but still I think the lady dancing with the red shirt guy seems to be Archana – remember buddha mil gaya song with Navin nischal. Otherwise only known faces are paintal and kesto.
