Qismat mein bichhadnaa thhaa
Posted on: August 7, 2009
I have posted a few songs from “Shabnam” (1964). I just realised that there was another movie of the same name as early as 1949. This movie had Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal in lead roles.
Here is a duet from this movie viz “Shabnam” (1949). It is sung by Mukesh and Geeta Dutt ( then Geeta Roy). It is picturised on Dilip Kumar and Kamini Kaushal. Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist and S D Burman is the music director of this song.

Song-qismat me bichadnaa thaa (Shabnam) (1949) Singers-Mukesh, Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-S D Burman
Lyrics
qismat mein bichhadnaa thaa
huyi kyun unse mulaaqaat re
na ruth ke mujhse pyaar
ke mera dil nahin mere haath re
qismat mein bichhadnaa thaa
huyi kyun unase mulaaqaat re
tu kaun hai ye maaloom nahin
tu kaun hai ye maaloom nahin
phir dil kyun tujhe bulaataa hai
taqdeer ne chhodaa saath
magar tu chhod na meraa saath re
qismat mein bichhadnaa thaa
huyi kyun unase mulaaqaat re
main apnaa sab kuchh kho baithaa
main apnaa sab kuchh kho baithaa
kyaa pyaar mein teraa bigdaa hai
tu aake dekh ik baar
hai meri aankhon mein barsaat re
qismat mein bichhadnaa thaa
huyi kyun unase mulaaqaat re
yaad aake na rastaa rok meraa
yaad aake na rastaa rok meraa
mujhe jaane de mujhe jaane de
ik baar laut ke aa
thaam le aakar meraa haath re
qismat mein bichhadnaa thaa
huyi kyun unse mulaaqaat re

I am sorry to comment on this post of yours. But I can not find your email address on your blog.
This is just to tell you that I have acknowledged on my blog that I got the words of the song “Pehli Tarikh Hai” from your site for the post
My post is not on music per se, but musings on middle-class upbringing.
Thanks for the lyrics.
