Jeet hi lenge baazi ham tum…pyaar ka bandhan toote naa
Posted August 25, 2009
on:I have heard this song several times in the past and I thought it must be a song from 1950s. But it turns out to be a song of 1961 and it is from “Shola Aur Shabnam”.
The song is sung by Rafi and Lata. Kaifi Azmi is the lyricist and Khayyam composed the music. Khayyam in fact composed some awesome music in this movie, including songs that tested the range of Rafi to the extreme.
I have no idea who are the actors on whom this song is picturised. Can anyone help identify them ?
PS- Now my readers inform me that Dharmendra is the actor on the piano. The lady is Tarla Mehta and the other person seen in the picturisation is M Rajan. I thank Shailja for this information about the actors.

Lyrics
phool ko dhoonde pyaasa bhawaraa
deepak ko parwaanaa
duniyaa apne rab ko pukaare
duniyaa apne rab ko pukaare
tujhko teraa deewaanaa
aa jaa
aa jaa
aa jaa
aa jaa
Jeet hi lenge baazi ham tum
khel adhoora chhoote na
pyaar kaa bandhan
janm kaa bandhan
janm kaa bandhan toote naa
bandhan toote na
Jeet hi lenge baazi ham tum
khel adhoora chhoote na
pyaar kaa bandhan
janm kaa bandhan
janm kaa bandhan toote naa
aaa aaa
miltaa hai jahaan dharti se gagan
miltaa hai jahaan dharti se gagan
aao wahin ham jaayen
tu mere liye main tere liye
tu mere liye main tere liye
is duniyaa ko thukraayen
is duniyaa ko thukraayen
door basaa len dil ki jannat
jisko zamaanaa loote naa
pyaar ka bandhan
janm ka bandhan
janm ka bandhan toote naa
pyaar ka bandhan toote naa
hmm hmm
lalalala
milne ki khushi naa milne ka gham
khatm ye jhagde ho jaayen
milne ki khushi naa milne ka gham
khatm ye jhagde ho jaayen
tu tu naa rahe main main naa rahoon
tu tu naa rahe main main naa rahoon
ik dooje mein kho jaayen
ik dooje mein kho jaayen
main bhi naa chhodoon pal bhar daaman
main bhi naa chhodoon pal bhar daaman
tu bhi pal bhar roothe naa
pyaar ka bandhan
janm ka bandhan
janm ka bandhan toote naa
pyaar ka bandhan toote naa
pyaar kaa bandhan
janm kaa bandhan
janm kaa bandhan toote naa
pyaar kaa bandhan toote naa
pyaar kaa bandhan toote naa
pyaar kaa bandhan toote naa

Yes, it was one of Dharmendra’s early movies. I could make out the outline of his hairstyle, which does not seem to have changed throughout his career.

One of my all time favorite songs of Rafisaab. When he sings the lines janm kaa bandhan, janm kaa bandhan toote naa, especially the landing, I get the goose bumps. His voice is so sweet and soothing… I’ve run out of adjectives…

All time super hit song and my favorite too.The Heroine is undoubtedly Tarla Mehta who later acted in Sara Akash in an important role.I remember, in newspaper ads of this movie in Hindi belt those days, there used to be a question-Agar aap Tarla hoti to kya karti, agar aap Dharmendra hote to kya karte, bataiye aur jeetiye dher sare inaam!…This was to add Tadka of nostalgia in this comment.

You are welcome Prakash ji. While browsing internet today I came across one 1960 Dev Anand starrer-Ek Ke Baad Ek where Tarla has acted opposite Prabhu Dayal. I have very faint memory of this movie and do not remember much except that it’s theme was family plannjng. Regardss

The actor playing the piano is Dharmendra. The heroine is Tarla Mehta (seems she played Sarojini Naidu in Gandhi) and the other actor is M. Rajan.
