Jaane jigar tu hai haseen
Posted by: Atul on: September 10, 2009
This song is a creation of Ganesh, whom I rate very highly as a music director. Secondly, this song is one, which many people may not have heard. But let me assure you, once you listen to this song, you will wonder how this song failed to make it big.
This song is from “Sharaarat” (1972), which was the only A grade movie that Ganesh ever got in his 17 movies long career. This movie was directed by Manmohan Desai and it starred Vishwajeet and Mumtaz.
I have already posted an awesome piano / party song from this movie, viz “dil ne pyaar kiyaa hai ik bewafaa se”. This song “jaane jigar tu hai haseen” is an awesome cabarat song.
This song is written by Hasrat Jaipuri and it is sung by Rafi. The cabarat is performed by Faryal, while Vishwajeet sings the song. I hope I have identified Faryal correctly. She was the gold standard for actresses who wasted her opportunities of having a fulfilling career in Bollywood.
PS-She is Madhumati and not Faryal.
Mumtaz plays a sari clad Bhartiya naari and is seen being scandalised at the cabarat performance and leaves the place in disgust after the song is over.
This is a great song, and I am sure it is great treat for those who may have never heard this song. What a song and what a singer, and indeed what a music ditrector !
I have been completing centuries of songs in this blog at a good rate. And this song marks the completion of yet another century.
Yes, this song is the 1900th song of this blog.
When I began this blog a little over one year ago, I could never have imagined that I will have so many songs in this blog in such a small duration. I cannot thank my readers enough for their encouragement. Let me tell you, posting six to seven songs a day regularly for over one year is not for faint hearted people. Little wonder that no one else has been able to do so though there are some who stated that they too haad thought of such an idea for a blog/ site. I count myself lucky that I had some loyal fans who kept encouraging me and that kept me going on and on.
PS- The dailymotion link that I have provided has good video quality but the audio is rather of dubious quality, so I have provided another link where video is of poor quality but audio is better. So pick your choice.

Song-Jaane jigar tu hai haseen (Sharaarat ) (1972) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Ganesh
Lyrics
Jaane jigar tu hai haseen
tujh sa yahaan koyi nahin
too ne mera dil bhi le liya
ek nazar mein jaane kyaa kiyaa
qaatil adaayen ye gori baahen
raat sharaabi chhaayaa nashaa
jaane jigar tu hai haseen
tujh sa yahaan koyi nahin
too ne mera dil bhi le liya
ek nazar mein jaane kyaa kiyaa
qaatil adaayen ye gori baahen
raat sharaabi chhaayaa nashaa
jaane jigar tu hai haseen
kaisi niraali haseena hai
pyaar kaa ek nageena hai
hamaara ye dil to machalne lagaa
bala ka zor zor se
kaisi niraali haseena hai
pyaar kaa ek nageena hai
hamaara ye dil to machalne lagaa
bala ka zor zor se
qaatil adaayen ye gori baahen
chaal sharaabi chaayaa nashaa
jaane jigar tu hai haseen
tujh sa yahaan koyi nahin
too ne mera dil bhi le liya
ek nazar mein jaane kyaa kiyaa
tujh pe khudaayi marti hai
jaan nichaawar karti hai
Khuda ki qasam main to dekhoonga
tujhi ko jhoom jhoom ke
tujh pe khudaayi marti hai haay
jaan nichaawar karti hai
Khuda ki qasam main to dekhoonga
tujhi ko jhoom jhoom ke
qatil adaayen ye gori baahen
raat sharaabi chhaaya nashaa
Jaane jigar tu hai haseen
tujh sa yahaan koyi nahin
too ne mera dil bhi le liya
ek nazar mein jaane kyaa kiyaa
qaatil adaayen ye gori baahen
raat sharaabi chhaaya nashaa
Jaane jigar tu hai haseen

I have ended up watching both. 🙂
Nice catchy song.
Thanks to you, Ganesh is getting some recognition.
I am also a big fan of his – certainly deserved more opportunities.

Thanks a lot, Raja. You are indeed one of the major sources of inspiration behind this blog going from strength to strength.
Vishwajeet making you go for better audio and Mumtaz making you go for better video- I never thought of that.
I have posted as many as 22 songs of Ganesh out of about 87 songs that he composed in Bollywood movies. I can take pride in the fact that this blog is the best single source for the songs of Ganesh.

Ganesh was unfortunate not to get a break like brother Pyarelal.

This song is not pictured on Faryal but on Madhumati, who was the vise versa look of Helen. She was a fabulous dancer too and have many credited songs and films. She was there in the song Jhanak Jhanak Tori Baaje Payaliya with Laxmi Chhaya.Where Raj Kumar drink and sings the song and Laxmi Chhaya and Madhumati performs mujra. Madhumati later on married a Punjabi choreographer and now leading a beautiful life.

Wow…1900 songs !!!
Congrats, Atul.
Going from strength to strength.
Like you say, it is a lot of hard work to be able to do this in such a short period of time – a little over a year. Labour of love. Keep it up – you know you can always count on us being here. 🙂
As for this song, I was in a bit of a fix.
Vishwajeet makes me think of going with the audio version, Mumu makes me lean towards the video version. 🙂
