This song is neither written by Hasrat Jaipuri nor composed by Shankar Jaikishan. But this song sounds like a Shammi Kapoor song, and it looks like a Shammi Kapoor song, because other ingredients are very much there. Rafi is the singer, Asha Parekh is there, and most important of them all, Shammi Kapoor himself is there in this song.
Yes, this song is a quintessential Shammi Kapoor song from the earlier days of Shammi Kapoor, when his charisma was gaining momentum. The earlier Shammi Kapoor movies did not have Shankar Jaikishan’s music at all. They had music by other music directors.
This song is from “Dil Deke Dekho” (1959) and its music direction is by debutant music director Usha Khanna. Lyricist is Majrooh Sultanpuri, and this is a lovely, if lesser known Rafi-Shammi Kapoor song. Asha Bhonsle also sings in this song.
It is nice too see a very young Asha Parekh being wooed by a young Shammi Kapoor in a movie that was produced 50 years ago.

Eventhough Mohammed Rafji ji`s pronunciation sounds exactly like NEENA in the song, In the movie Asha Parekh`s screen name is NEETA or NEETA NARAYAN.
