Idhar to haath laa pyaare

“Aakhri Daao” (1958) was a suspense movie, which was one of the popular form of movies that were being produced by the Bollywood movie industry at that time.
One of the main attraction of these movies was their music. The music tended to be dance music and O P Nayyar ruled the roost when it came to cornering the lion’ share of such movies.
Even other music directors who managed to land such movies were instructed to create O P Nayyar kind of music.
This could be the reason why the music of “Aakhri Daao” (1958) sounds like O P Nayyar’s music, though the music director is someone else. The music director in fact is Madan Mohan. He was not yet the ghazal king that he was to become subsequently in the 1960s. In 1950s, when he was struggling to establish himself, his music often resembled the music of other more established music directors. Of course, there are many songs where he had begun to sound like the music director that we know him as today.
“Aakhri Daao” (1958) was one of the rare occasions when Madan Mohan worked with Majrooh Sultanpuri, And what a creative and wisecracking song Majrooh has written here. The lyrics of this song will have its listeners in splits.
The song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Johny Walker who is dealing with baddies, and all of them viz Johny Walker as well as the baddies are in disguise.
PS-Raja informs me that the actor in the picturisation is Kamal Kapoor. Which one ? The baddy who is the centre of attraction for much of the song, I presume. Or is it the lip syncing actor ?
It is a nice fun song and one will certainly enjoy listening to it.

Nice timepass song. First time I am hearing it.
Btw, the actor is Kamal Kapoor – well-known for his roles later on in movies (e.g. Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin).
This is the movie that has that song where Nutan looks heavenly (you have posted that song) – “tujhe kya sunaon main dilruba”. 🙂
