Not much is known about this movie called “Detective” (1958) except that it was a movie starring Pradeep Kumar and Mala Sinha. Searching for more information may yield the additional information that it was a suspense thriller directed by Shakti Samant.
As usually happened in movies those days, this movie too had some good music. In fact, to say that this movie had goodmusic is an understatement. Mukul Roy was the music director, and he composed some outstanding songs in this movie.
Here is a song from this movie which can be regarded as an ultimate chaayageet song. The setting is night time, the singers are Hemant Kumar and Geeta Dutt. It is picturised on Pradeep Kumar and Mala Sinha. The lyrics of Shailendra refer to “Chaand”, “Chaandni”, “fizaa”, samaa” etc. The music creates just the right ambience. The result is a song which is incredibly romantic and sensuous.
As I mentioned earlier, this song is an almost perfect chaayageet song.

Nice song.
Never heard about this MD before. Further search on net revealed that he was brother of Geeta Dutt and gave music in following movies (list may not be a complete):

I thought Kanu Roy (music director of “Anubhav” and “aavishkaar” ) was Geeta Dutt’s brother too. Now I realise that only Mukul Roy was her brother.
