Bhupen Hazarika, who is a legend in Assam, is known in Bollywood circles mainly as a singer. But he had worked as a music director too towards the beginning of his career. This was in a movie called “Aarop” and he had created some very fine songs in this movie.
Here is a cabarat song from this movie. Yes, Bhupen Hazarika shows his versatility in creating a cabarat song here. This song is sung by Asha Bhonsle like most cabarat songs of those days. But that is where the similarity ends. People who may not know the details of this song could well imagine this song to be a creation of R D Burman, but it is Bhupen Hazarika’s creation. This song is written by Maya Govind, who was one of the very few female lyricists in Bollywood.
This song is picturised not on Helen, but on Bindu. And this must be one of the most memorable cabarat songs picturised on her.

I simply love all the songs of Asha Bhosle….and this is film is one of many favourite of hindi films…just loved it
