I have posted a few lovely songs from “Dholak” (1951) in the past. Here is another nice song from this movie.
This song is sung by Sulochana Kadam. Aziz Kashmiri is the lyricist and Shyam Sundar is the music director.
This song is picturised as a stage song where a big built salwar kurta draped lady (Meena Shourey, if I am not wrong) performs a western style dance while singing this song. This kind of song and dance must have been revolutionary by the standards of 1951 and Meena Shorey was just the actress to play such roles.
It is a “different” kind of a song, that is for sure.

Mem Saab,
The MD Shyam Sunder and the actor Shyam Sunder are two different persons. MD Shyam Sunder died an untimely death in 1951-52 while composing the music for the movie Alif Laila.

Love this song!!!! Shyam Sundar acted in some films too. Haven’t heard much about him though.
