Duniya badal gayi

I am aware that “Babul” (1950) had Dilip Kumar and Nargis in lead roles. So I was confused when I watched this song from “Babul”. I had no difficulty identifying Dilip Kumar singing in Talat Mehmood’s voice, but who was the lady. she looked unfamiliar. And she did not look like Nargis.
A little investigation later, I am almost certain than she is Munawwar Sultana, and it appears that “Babul” was a love triangle involving Dilip Kumar, Nargis and Munawwar Sultana. That being the case, I am surprised how little I know about Munawwar Sultana. I need to find out more about her.
This song is a sad song, sung by Talat Mehmood and Shamshad Begam. Shakeel Badayuni is the lyricist and Naushad composed the music.

Again to say that Dard too was a love triangle between Suriya, Munawaar Sultana and a male hero, I am not aware of his name, please let me know if you know. He probably was related to Mehboob Khan who was the producer of this movie.Mehboob’s other movie was Andaz, again a love triangle of Raj Kapoor,Dilip Kumar and Nargis and went on to produce the epic movie “MOTHER INDIA”a master piece in every respect in the late 50s. Though internationally famed, should have received the Oscar.

Atul,you are right. Its Munawar Sultana, one of the top heroines of late 40s. She had few movies, one i can remember is “Dard” especially she sings a classical song ” Afsana Likhi rahiho dile bekarar ka, anhome raang bhar ke tere intezar ka”. Though she mimed the song, the playback singer was Umadevi later on known as Tun Tun as female comedian.Music director was Naushad .
