“Ham Sab Chor Hain” (1955) is a movie of historical significance because here one can see many would be legends in action during their earlier days. For instance, it was one of the first movies as a music director for O P Nayyar. It is in movies like this that he began to groom Asha Bhonsle and gave her voice an identity.
This song “tum hamse kyun darta hai” is a light hearted party song where Asha Bhonsle sounds like the versatile singer that she was soon to become, first under the music direction of O P Nayyar and later under R D Burman’s music direction.
The picturisation is interesting. One can see Nalini Jaiwant calling the shots in this song.Shammi Kapoor , her object of attraction, looks nothing like the Shammi Kapoor of 1960s. He looks so insecure and underconfident, not only in this song, but in other songs of this movie as well. Rajendranath, his loyal chum of subsequent movies, also figures in the picturisation and looking nearly as clueless as Shammi Kapoor.Asit Sen also figures in this song as do a few others whom I do not recognise.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist. The light hearted song has one word that I could not get and I have placed ??? in place of that word. If any reader can identify what word it is, I will make the correction in the lyrics.

Typical OPN music. Looks like extension of CID/Aar-paar song/music.
“beimaan balma” from same movie is good.
