Raste mein tere kabse hain khade

Posted on: November 3, 2009

“Opera House” (1961) was a B grade movie in which Ajit and Saroja Devi were the lead actors. I am surprised to notice that I have posted only one song from this movie which had some lovely songs in it.

Here is a duet song from this movie. It is sung by Rafi and Lata. But no, it is not picturised on the lead actors. The lead actors are visible in the picturisation, but only as spectators, while two bit actors sing this song as a roadside tamasha song.

Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Chitragupta is the music director.

Song-Raste mein tere kab se hain khade (Opera House) (1961) Singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Chitragupta

Lyrics

raste mein tere kab se hain khade
aji le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere kab se hain khade
aji le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere

galiyon mein ghoomte the ham beqaraar se
mil jaaoge kahin to chalte phirte pyaar se
galiyon mein ghoomte the ham beqaraar se
mil jaaoge kahin to chalte phirte pyaar se
mil hi gaye hain to khul ke milo
dil tod na do munh mod na lo
pyaare le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere kab se hain khade
aji le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere

suljhaanaa chhod dete uljhe se baal kaa
sun lete aap jo afsaanaa mere haal kaa
suljhaanaa chhod dete uljhe se baal kaa
sun lete aap jo afsaanaa mere haal kaa
haan haan suni nahin fursat magar
le jaaye kidhar hasrat ki nazar
pyaare le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere kab se hain khade
aji le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere

ab tak jo ham khade hain hai chaahat aap ki
takte hain der se deewaane soorat aap ki
ab tak jo ham khade hain hai chaahat aap ki
takte hain der se deewaane soorat aap ki
kab tak yoon hi koyi peechhaa kare
ab haath mere thakne bhi lage
chaahe le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere kab se hain khade
aji le lo salaam ghareebon kaa
raste mein tere

Thanks a lot for posting this song. I thought you may like to post the best song from this film Lata Mangeshkar’s Balma maane na.

I happened to watch this film in snatches several times recently on DD India. I thought it was like so many B&W films of the era. The music of the film is so outstanding I would hesitate to describe it as a B grade movie.
