Uthegi tumhaari nazar dheere dheere

When one is looking for musical gems from the past, there are just too many of them. One big source of such great songs is the so called B and C grade movies. Look for the music of the music directors of such movies, and you will strike pay dirt.
Chitragupta was one of the major music directors who was confined to such movies. And most of the time, his music failed to register with the mainstream audience. But what amazing songs he has created in the movies that he got to work in! In these movies he got to work with A class singers and lyricists and created songs that should have been classics if only they were heard by as many people as is required to make a song regarded as a classic.
Here is a song which I heard for the first time today. It is from “Ek Raaz” (1963). It is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Jeewan Kala seducing Pran. Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist.
Just listen to the song. If you are like me, you will enjoy listening to it and find the song a nice one to listen to.

hey i ve heard this song before thanks to our doordarshan’s Chhayageet and Vividh Bharati’s ‘Bhoole Bisre Geet”
but who knew the source of this song
and we have seen this lady in quite a number of movies playing ‘negative characters’ getting ‘raped and killed’ etc, but again who knew her. thanks atul for telling her name.
and didn’t Pran make a art out of blowing smoke rings?
