Tum bin sajan barse nayan

I have heard about the movie “Gaban” (1966), mainly because of the song “ehsaan mere dil pe tumhaaraa hai doston”, which has gone on to become an iconic song, though this song is almost a non event in the movie itself.
And now I have stumbled upon another song from this movie, which I never knew existed. And it seems to me that this song is a gem that was lying hidden all these days.
This song is sung by Lata and Rafi. Those were the days when the two were not seeing eye to eye on the matter of royalties to singers. This song was recorded separately in the voices of the two singers and later used in such a manner that it gives the illusion of being a duet.
There was no such disagreement between Sunil Dutt and Sadhana and they very much figured in the same screen shot when required. 😉 And this song was picturised on them.
Shailendra is the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.

When I first heard the song in the sixties, I almost thought Talat was making a comeback…

This is a lovely song.
They may not have seen eye to eye (even literally for this song) but both Lata and Rafi saab have done a very good job here. There is soul in this song.
I have heard it a few times before (I think it was a fairly famous song).
I have even seen the movie. Thanks, Atul, for bringing such songs to the limelight again.
