I was under the impression that I had posted this song from “Teesri Kasam” long back. So I was very suprised on being informed that this song was not yet posted.
When I checked up, I found that I had posted four songs from this, and all of then immortal songs, but this song was not one of them.
Just how many memorable songs were there in “Teesri Kasam” ? When I checked up, I realised that this movie was full of superb songs in addition to the four or five that are better known. This shows how little we know about the music of our golden era, even when we are dealing with music of well known movies.
Here is this fabulous song “sajan re jhooth mat bolo Khuda ke paas jaanaa hai”. The song is picturised on a bullock cart, and the song is a philosophical song written in an easy to understand one written in simple words. Shailendra, the lyricist of this song has delivered perhaps the best song of his career in the form of this song.
This song is sung by Mukesh and it is picturised on Raj Kapoor. The music of Shankar Jaikishan is sweet and melodious and is an ideal foil to this immortal song.

please correct spelling of in tag..it is seen ‘ teesr kasam’..should be ‘teesri kasam’

Thanks Atul for the farmaish. The first time I heard this song I was absolutely bowled over with the “mukhda” and the simple lyrics. Later I learnt Shailendra always had simple yet powerful lyrics. I started liking Raj Kapoor only after hearing this song.
On YT, there is this fantastic clip of RK introducing this song in Moscow and his “voice” Mukesh stepping from the shadows and taking over.
Too bad Shailendra died heart broken after Teesri Kasam flopped. I love these songs.

yea , this film is full of superb songs!
even i like ..lali laali doliya mein lali re dulhaniya! most.Waheeda looks so lovely in this song.Her smile is so good..find no words to explain!
