Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Dil se dil ka saaz ham phir se gaane aa gaye

Posted on: August 10, 2010

Few people know that the Sitar maestro Pt Ravi Shankar had initially tried his hands as a music director in Hindi movies before he found his true calling as a Sitar exponent. He in fact gave music in a few Hindi movies in his early days.

I have already posted a few songs from “Anuradha” (1960) where Pt Ravi Shankar was the music director. Here is another lovely song from this movie.

This song is sung by Manna Dey, Lata and Mahendra Kapoor. Shailendra is the lyricist.

I am not at all familiar with the actors on whom this song is picturised. I request my knowledgeable readers to tell us who they are.
PS: Leela Naidu is there in the picturisation. I thank Veena Seth for this information.

This song as well as its picturisation is quite lively. The song sounds nice when one can understand the lyrics.Though the lyrics sound simple in hindsight, that is not really the case. I needed to listen to this song several times, and even then I have not been able to get the lyrics 100 % right. There are a few couple of lines where I am still not sure what the words are. Nevertheless, here is this song. In case my listeners with keener ears are able to point out the correct words there, I will make the changes.

Here is this rare and special song from a rare movie.

PS- The tune for this song was used by Radio Ceylon as the signature tune for their programme called “Mehfil e Mushaayra” in the 1960s.

song-Dil se dil ka saaz ham phir se gaane aa gaye(Anuradha)(1960) Singers-Manna Dey, Lata, Mahendra Kapoor, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Ravi Shankar

Lyrics

dil se dil ka saaz ham
phir se gaane aa gaye
haay
dil se dil ka saaz ham
phir se gaane aa gaye
hey he he he he he he
phir se kaliyon ne kahaa
din suhaane aa gaye
hey
phir se kaliyon ne kahaa
din suhaane aa gaye

gham ke baadal hat gaye
khul gayaa neela gagan
aa aa aa aa aa aa aa
har kali ko pyaar se
chhoo gayi sooraj kiran
hey
muskuraa lo jhoom lo
wo zamaane aa gaye
hey ae ae ae ae ae
he
dil se dil ka saaz ham
phir se gaane aa gaye
phir se kaliyon ne kahaa
din suhaane aa gaye

ho o o ho ho ho
ho ho ho ho ho
ho o ho ho ho
ho o ho ho
aa aa aa aa aa
aaa aaa
darna
aaa aaa
aaa aaa
aaa aaa
aare

samaa albela
din hain milan ke
geet leke aaye dekho
meet mere man ke
samaan albela
din hain milan ke
geet leke aaye dekho
meet mere man ke
samaan albela

piyaa piyaa gaaye jiyaa
naache man moraa
piyaa piyaa gaaye jiyaa
naache man moraa
meri unki jodi jaise
chaand aur chakoraa
nainon mein chhupaaye phiroon
tasweer sajan ki
samaa albela
din hain milan ke
preet leke aaye dekho
meet mere man ke
samaa albelaa

jinhen maine dil diyaa
woh bhi rahe mere
jinhen maine dil diyaa
woh bhi rahe mere
man mein manaaun main
saanjh aur sawere
jeete jee na tootenge
ye bandhan jeewan ke
samaa albela
din hain milan ke
preet leke aaye dekho
meet mere man ke
samaa albelaa

jaise unke achche din
phir se laut aayen
phir se laut aayen
maalik aise sabki sun len
sabke din laut aayen
maalik aise sabki sun len
sabke din laut aayen
aha
sabke din laut aayen
aha
sabke din laut aayen
sabke din laut aayen
sabke din laut aayen

I wonder if the male dancer is Gopi Krishna. you are right it is a lovely song–I was listening to it just yesterday. Ravi Shankar also did the music for some Satyajit Ray movies.

if i am correct the male dancer is Sachin Shanker the famous dancer and has some relation with Pt. Ravi shanker..He was also in film Munimji and the song Shivji behane chale was picturised on him.He was in Parakh film too singing Kya hawa chali.
I had once met him in my Dad’s office and had some time talking to him.
When i asked him what he does and he said nothing.
He told my Dad that your son is beautiful.

Was searching this song for so long… finally found it here. Thanks for the info. Yes, it was the signature tune of “Mehfil e Mushaira” on Radio Ceylon. Not found anywhere else after Radio Ceylon stopped its Hindi broadcast.

This song was used by the late Manohar Mahajan, a former Radio Ceylon announcer, as the signature tune for his renowned Sunday weekly Facebook musical program, with which I was also associated. He had mentioned that he drew inspiration from his Radio Ceylon days.

A truly beautiful song!
