Chhotaa saa baalmaa

The name of O P Nayyar is normally associated with racy songs. He was not a classical music trained music director, unlike many of his peers. But even then, O P Nayyar could still come up with lovely semi classical songs if the situation so demanded.
“Raagini” (1958) had several lighter songs in it that I have already posted. Here is a semi classical song from this movie this time. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle and what a delightful song it is to listen to ! Only the audio of this song is available, and that is all one needs to savour this gem.
This song was excluded from the movie.
Here is this lovely song from “Raagini” (1958). Qamar Jalalabadi is the lyricist.
song-Chhotaa saa baalmaa (Raagini) (1958) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-O P Nayyar
Lyrics
aaa aaa
aaa aaa
chhotaa saa baalmaa
ankhiyan neend churaay le gayo
ratiyan neend na aaye
chhotaa saa baalmaa
ankhiyan neend churaay le gayo
ratiyan neend na aaye
chhotaa saa baalmaa
kis bairan ke jaal mein phanske
kis bairan ke jaal mein phanske
bhool gayaa tu pyaar ke raste
kis bairan ke jaal mein phanske
kis bairan ke jaal mein phanske
bhool gayaa tu pyaar ke raste
bhool gayaa tu pyaar ke raste
chhotaa saa baalmaa
ankhiyan neend churaay le gayo
ratiyan neend na aaye
chhotaa saa baalmaa
mere dil ko jaan khilaunaa
mere dil ko jaan khilaunaa
tod gayaa bedard salonaa
tod gayaa bedard salonaa
chhotaa saa baalmaa
ankhiyan neend churaay le gayo
ratiyan neend na aaye
chhotaa saa balamaa
